Mani Ratnam intends to make Ponniyin Selvan in three languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Since this film requires a huge star cast, Mani is planning to cast at least one popular face from each film industry, sources report. While for the Tamil version it will be Vijay, for Telugu it is Mahesh Babu.

The Maheshbabu starrer directed by Maniratnam and produced by Kalanidhi Maran on the banner of Sun Pictures is getting ready for shooting very soon. Presently the script work is in progress. It is learnt that the film is coming up as two parts on the lines of Rakta Charitra by Ram Gopal Varma.

Vijay plays the role of a villager in Velayutham while Genelia plays a journalist. The shooting of this film is almost over barring a couple of songs and few scenes. Yash Chopra has added another feather to his cap. He was honoured with the title of 'Ambassador of Interlaken', in Interlaken last weekend, making him the first recipient of this prestigious award.
