In the time of rising inflation, it is indeed shocking to witness the plight of a 90 year old war widow who draws a measly Rs 70 as family pension. However, now the Supreme Court has taken notice of the woman s plight and intervened, pulling up the government for low pension in times of extreme price rise.

Eighty six year old Bansidhar Sharma of Seetaram Puri Basti in Jaipur, Rajasthan spent his youth fighting for the nation. He is amongst those distinguished freedom fighters who led India to freedom from the British Raj, but like many others his efforts went unnoticed. Today, he survives on Government pension, which isn t enough to meet his medical expenses.
