As we say, Linkive is all about how best you can share and view links within your network of friends. And it is quite simple to get started and get used to it.

The first thing to do is to create an account and install your Linkive browser toolbar. As of now Linkive toolbar is available for Mozilla Firefox and IE browsers alone.

When you are a new user and do not have any links shared to you by your friends, what you view on your home-page is two windows showing ‘the most shared’ links in one and ‘most recently shared links’ in the other.

popular links     LatestLinks

The obvious first step before beginning with your link sharing business is to have friends in your friends list. You can do that by going to the contacts page. You will get a window like this when you click on the ‘import contacts’ link.

GrabContacts1 >>>> GrabContacts2

And as you give you e-mail id and password your contacts get imported and listed in an alphabetical order. You can check the boxes against the contacts to invite them to be a part of your Linkive network. Also, you can search for existing users by using the search box provided in all the pages.

Search

Alternatively, the search option in the friends tab, in the left-panel of the home-page, also allows you to search for your friends by giving name or e-mail id.

Search2

Okay, now that you have imported your contact list from other mail accounts and have invited few of your friends to join your Linkive network, you can go ahead with the sharing once you start having friends in your friends list.

You can find more information related to contacts and creating groups in the contacts section of the FAQ.

Now that have friends to share with, you can go ahead and share whatever link you find while browsing the internet. Clicking on the ‘share’ button in the browser toolbar pops-up a window, which allows you to share the link with your friend/s. You can as well assign as many labels as you wish and also give a brief description about the link. This helps your friends know better, as to what the link may contain.

Sharing

All your favorite links, which you have shared with your friends, get listed down in the ‘Favorite Links’ page. You can distribute your URLs to various folders as well as assign various Labels. Each folder can further be labeled, so that URLs with the same label get listed under that folder by default.

A URL can belong to only one folder, while it can have multiple labels.

Additionally, using the Linkive toolbar one can import his bookmarks/favorite links from the browser(Currently restricted to Mozilla alone).

It contains all the links shared by your network and they are paginated. The left panel in the page shows links as given below.
